My
youngest daughter is the sort that may join the Peace Corps someday.
She loves people. And she is earning her history/world religions degree.
When I pondered what she would appreciate I decided the piece had to
deal with people caring about people.
I chose to sculpt a young woman holding many smaller children in her
hands. I put them in sort of a circle which to me represents our world.
I gave them simple body language as they grasp each others hands. They
each seem to have a personality of their own. That is how my daughter
perceives people. She truly values the uniqueness of each individual.
I used a rich, warm brown for the patina to bring out all the texture
on the piece. And she stands on a rather thick heart that was given
a muted red tone for interest. My daughter loves the piece of course!
