It
was my design to make a young romantic, fantasy mermaid so I used pastel
colors this time rather than the usual blues and greens. I even gave
her pink Tibetan lamb hair. She has beautiful golden brown, hand-painted
porcelain eyes. To add to the fantasy feeling I
gave her long antennae with blue cabochons on the end for added color
and effect.
Our little Watersprite has one hand raised to her brow as she shades
her face a bit from the sun. She intently looks at you from her seated
position on top of her white column perch
or perhaps she is watching
seagulls fly by in the sky? I added glass and seashell mosaics to the
top and bottom of the column for added interest and color. Her tail
and
large sculpted fins have lots of detail and the pose has lots of movement.
She wears a tiny top and a necklace of real dried seaweed. I painted
the seaweed in cotton candy pastel colors and added touches of silver
and gold. Included in the necklace and in her hair are tiny real starfish,
real seahorses, Swarovski crystals, and beads. I added a tiny metallic
gold trim that is studded with small crystals round her waist and at
the top of her fins to balance her look and to add extra interest.
