The inspiration for this piece came from a postcard I saw in Hawaii one summer. I thought the Hawaiian children were beautiful and would make a wonderful subject for a doll.
The flowers are made by first outlining the shape of each petal and leaf with tiny wire. The wire is filled in with glue. When the glue dries, each petal and leaf are painted, and then the flowers are put together.
The little white dress is made from one of my Grandmother's handkerchiefs.
The eyes are painted. I prefer the softer look of painted eyes. She has acrylic hair that is glued directly to her head, so it doesn't look like a wig.
She is fully sculpted out of Super Sculpey, and she sits on a sculpted rock-like base with a pool of water at her feet.
