There are times I think a piece can be improved or revamped. This was
one of those cases. I took the piece I had originally called Inspiration
and revamped it to become something different. I had been invited to
send a piece to a gallery show in Moscow and the only piece I had available
was Inspiration. White didn't seem the right color to send to Moscow
in mid-December. So, I decided to add some color to give it a feeling
of a Fabergé egg.
This
sculpture has over 2000 Swarovski crystals that have been individually
glued on the piece to give it a Fabergé feeling. The crown/garland
of the piece is covered with many small real, (natural) gems which include
very good quality sapphires, emeralds, rubies, citrons, and amethysts.
There is a quality diamond in one of the center flowers, too. The rest
of the diamond looking gems in her garland and necklace are high quality
man-made CZs.
She
stands on a hand blown glass egg. She holds small Fabergé eggs
in her hands which are embellished with the tiniest of Swarovski crystals.
Her hair is Tibetan lamb. Her wings are made from Art Deco pieces
of metal. There is an antique button at the center of her wings in back.
The button is from my Grandmother Williams' button collection.
Though she seems covered in riches she reminds us that our true worth
is
what is in our heart and what we are willing to share with others.
I wanted to call her a name that meant a person who has a giving heart
in Russian. I have a friend who speaks fluid Russian. She suggested
calling the piece Golden Heart. That is the special way the Russians
think of people who are generous of heart
they have golden hearts.
