The first time I sculpted this subject, I was inspired by the painting by William Bouguereau. This second attempt was inspired by a line drawing I discovered in an old book. I changed the sculpture to give it a slightly more modern look than the original drawing, just like I did with the first one. I made Cupid more masculine, and Psyche more a modern beauty, in hopes that we would take this ancient tale and relate to it in our present lives. | |
